JERUSALEM AND TORONTO, August 6, 2010… The launch of a website dedicated to denying the Holocaust through caricatures and text, is the latest salvo emanating from Iran that denies the facts of the Holocaust and attempts to influence those who are ignorant of history.
The vulgar and cynical approach of the website, a combination of Holocaust denial and distortion, illustrated with antisemitic caricatures, further illustrates Iran’s disregard for reality and truth vis-à-vis the Holocaust, Jews and Israel.
“It is unfortunate that in this day and age, when information is so easily accessed and available, that those engaged in a calculated campaign to discredit the history and pain of a group of people should find traction and a willing audience in certain segments of our society,” said Fran Sonshine, National Chair of the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem.
Yaron Ashkenazi, Executive Director of the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem added, “This simply emboldens the Canadian Society for Yad Vashem to act with even greater resolve to broaden and expand our initiatives to educate Canadians in the truth and universal lessons of the Holocaust.”
Fighting this misinformation, Yad Vashem’s Farsi language website, as well as websites in English, Arabic, Spanish, Russian and Hebrew, provide comprehensive, credible information about the history of the Holocaust to anyone interested in learning the truth.
