MEDIA ADVISORY MCMILLAN

TORONTO, October 27, 2010…The final vote for the controversial Bill C-300 is scheduled today in the House of Commons.
Bill C- 300, also known as the Corporate Accountability of Mining, Oil and Gas Corporations in Developing Countries Act, aims to promote responsible environmental practices and international human rights standards on the part of Canadian mining, oil and gas corporations in developing countries.
This private members’ Bill, introduced by Liberal MP John McKay, “would harm Canada’s mineral industry and its reputation in less developed nations as it will interfere with the exclusive jurisdiction of developing countries,” says Robert Wisner is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group of McMillan.
Wisner has been interviewed and spoken extensively on Bill C-300 and has appeared before the House of Commons Standing Committee for the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC). His practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation, foreign investment protection and international trade.
He is recognized in Who’s Who Legal, Best Lawyers in Canada and Lexpert in the area of international arbitration.
